Amazon is in talks to acquire AI startup Decart in a deal valued at around $7 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal via Reuters. The San Francisco-based startup builds software that helps developers switch between different AI chips — and it's also developing world models, including Lucy and Oasis.
The two companies already have history: Amazon gave Decart early access to its Trainium3 chip in 2025. Decart was valued at nearly $4 billion in May after raising more than $400 million from investors including Sequoia, Benchmark, and Radical Ventures.
For Amazon, the deal would deepen its AI infrastructure play and keep more of the AI compute stack inside its own ecosystem — a direct shot at the Nvidia-dominated status quo.
