Deezer says it will ship a toggle that lets listeners filter out AI-generated music before the end of the year. Flip it on and AI tracks, albums, and related artists disappear from search results, the company told TechCrunch.
CEO Alexis Lanternier said users have been asking for it. A Deezer survey last year found about 45% of customers wanted a way to strip AI music from their feeds. The company already runs AI-detection tooling; in July it said more than half of daily uploads were AI-generated, averaging about 90,000 tracks a day, up from 10% when detection launched.
Other streamers are picking their own lines. Bandcamp bans AI uploads, Tidal cut monetization for them, and Spotify leans on clearer AI labels. Variety reported in August that Apple Music was looking at labeling AI tracks by year-end. Deezer's bet is simpler: if you don't want the stuff, you can turn it off.
