Google has officially unveiled the Fitbit Edge, exactly as teased. The new fitness band costs $179.99 in the US ($229 in Canada), with pre-orders open today and retail availability on October 27.

The spec sheet matches the leaks: a 1.34-inch always-on AMOLED display, seven-day battery life (two days with the always-on display enabled), ECG, and GPS. The standout detail is a user-replaceable battery — a first for a Fitbit, and a nod to the growing repairability movement.

Google is also bundling three months of Google Health Premium, sweetening the pitch for buyers choosing between the Edge and a full smartwatch. After three years without a new band, Fitbit's classic form factor is officially back.
