Google just opened Gemini 4 Argon to a much wider crowd. After a limited Fairwind rollout to trusted cyber defenders starting September 30, the model is available today for Pro and Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search, Ultra users in Google Antigravity, and paid developers and enterprises on the Gemini API.
Google is pricing Argon aggressively: $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens through November 30, then $4 and $20. Cached inputs get 95% off. The company says that intro rate is about a fifth of what OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra and Anthropic’s Fable models cost on a per-token basis. Argon also ships with a 1 million token unified input-output limit, up from Gemini’s previous 64K output ceiling.
Internally, Google says Argon is already doing heavy lifting: helping migrate C/C++ to Rust (including work toward an 800K-line Fuchsia Zircon rewrite), cutting memory waste across data centers, and finding cyber vulnerabilities that earlier models missed. On public benches it claims DeepSWE at 77.9%, first place on the Vals Index, and 51.3% on Zapier’s AutomationBench. Sundar Pichai posted the availability note himself this afternoon.
This is Google’s first major frontier drop since Gemini 3 in late 2025. Plus and free users are still waiting.
