Meta has released the weights for Muse Spark Open, which it calls the most capable US open-weight model to date. It's natively multimodal, with 816 billion total parameters (42 billion active) and a 1 million-token context window, and it's built for coding and agentic work. The weights are on Hugging Face now.

Meta optimized it for Apple's MLX framework on the M5 Ultra Mac Studio. Each machine can give its GPU up to 512GB of unified memory, so two Mac Studios can hold the entire model. Meta says it used the setup to ship fixes and features to the open-source Mastodon app Ice Cubes and to drive DaVinci Resolve end to end, all on-device.

Meta AI chief Alexandr Wang told Axios the two companies have been working together for months, crediting former Apple executive Daniel Gross with bringing them together.
