The next iPad mini could cost more than the 11-inch iPad Air. According to Bloomberg, as reported by MacRumors, the new OLED iPad mini may start at around $799 — $50 above the $749 iPad Air.

The price jump reflects the new OLED display, and the mini isn't skimping elsewhere: an A20 Pro chip, landscape FaceTime camera, and water resistance are all reportedly on board. The unveil is expected on or around October 27.

It's a bold pricing move. The iPad mini has traditionally been the compact, approachable option — pricing it above the Air repositions it as a premium small tablet. Whether buyers follow is the open question.
