OpenAI is giving U.S. university labs a free year on its life sciences stack. The Rosalind Academic Plan, announced today, covers up to 30 Business Standard seats at $0 per user per month for up to 12 months, plus access to GPT-Rosalind after a trusted-access review. Labs also get the company's other commercially available frontier models, subject to plan usage limits.

GPT-Rosalind is OpenAI's specialized life sciences model, paired with the Rosalind Workbench for tool use across medicinal chemistry, genomics, and wet-lab workflows. Research data shared through the plan is not used to train OpenAI's models by default. API access and API credits are not part of the offer.

Principal investigators and lab leads at universities without an OpenAI Enterprise deal apply through the trusted-access process; labs already on Enterprise go through their university account. OpenAI says it verifies the institution and the lab lead, reviews intended use, and keeps monitoring after activation. Applications are open now for eligible U.S. academic labs.
