Anthropic told investors its third-quarter revenue hit $16.8 billion, up from $11.5 billion in the second quarter, and that it was profitable on an adjusted basis, the Financial Times reported Wednesday.
The update landed as Anthropic briefed institutional investors at its San Francisco headquarters ahead of a potential IPO some people involved have floated around a $2 trillion valuation. The company filed confidentially with the SEC earlier this year and has not publicly posted an S-1.
Q2 was already a milestone. Anthropic recorded its first adjusted operating profit then, about $559 million excluding stock-based pay, after revenue climbed past $11.5 billion. A second straight adjusted profit is the signal investors have been waiting for while rival labs still burn cash.
