Apple ended Wednesday worth $5.01 trillion, the first time it has closed above $5 trillion. Shares finished at $342.96, up 0.5% on the Nasdaq. Nvidia is the only other company to do it, back in October 2025.
Apple had been here before during the day. The Wall Street Journal counted this as the seventh time the stock crossed the line intraday, but the first time it held through the close. It touched $347.07 at one point, just shy of its $348.15 record.
The timing stands out because most of big tech had a bad day. Oracle fell 8.83%, Meta 3.27%, Nvidia 3.16% and Microsoft 1.8%. Apple came off a run of launches, from the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo to Tuesday's HomeView, HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K. The stock is up roughly 5% since John Ternus took over as CEO on September 1. Fiscal fourth-quarter earnings land November 2, and those will show whether Apple's recent hardware price increases are costing it any sales.
