Apple updated its vintage and obsolete products list today, and three more devices crossed into the obsolete column: the 2017 12-inch MacBook, the sixth-generation iPad, and BeatsX earbuds.

Apple calls a product obsolete once more than seven years have passed since it was last sold. At that point Apple Stores and Authorized Service Providers stop doing hardware repairs and generally can't order parts. Macs get one small exception, since Apple says they can stay eligible for battery replacements for up to 10 years after sales ended, if parts are available.

The 2017 model was the final version of the fanless 12-inch MacBook, which Apple discontinued in 2019. Apple still hasn't made a MacBook smaller than 13 inches since then, so anyone holding onto one is now on their own for repairs.
