Nvidia is in talks to deepen its investment in Reflection AI — and an outright acquisition is on the table, according to the Financial Times via Reuters. The talks are early-stage, but an agreement could come within weeks.
The structure under discussion is notable: the deal could be shaped as an acqui-hire to sidestep the lengthy regulatory review a formal acquisition would invite. Nvidia is already a major backer, having invested $800 million in the startup.
Reflection AI, founded by ex-DeepMind researchers, launched its open-weight model Beam earlier this week. Snapping up top AI talent — and the models they've built — has become the industry's workaround to antitrust scrutiny, and Nvidia appears ready to play that game.
