Replit has stopped working with Anthropic, according to CEO and co-founder Amjad Masad, who said so onstage at TechCrunch Disrupt this week. That's a big change for a company whose AI coding platform ran on Claude models and whose growth was closely tied to that partnership.
Masad gave a mix of reasons. "I think ChatGPT is better now," he said, pointing to Replit's internal and public benchmarks. "It was a decision based on both cost, you know, partnership, and performance. And for all these reasons, we just felt like they were a better partner for now." Replit announced a partnership with OpenAI in August, but nothing at the time suggested Anthropic was out.
The story isn't fully settled. A person familiar with the partnership told TechCrunch it's still in place, and a Replit blog post from September lists Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and 5.1 among the models running in Replit Agent's production environment. TechCrunch has asked Replit to clarify.
Masad also shared a bit about the business. Enterprise contracts went from about 2% of revenue last year to roughly 15% this year, he said, and more than half of Replit's revenue is now B2B. He didn't share ARR figures.
