Ubisoft is closing another studio. The publisher told staff it plans to shut RedLynx in Finland, the team behind the Trials motorcycle games, in a move that would affect up to 52 jobs, Eurogamer reports. Separately, 70 positions at Ubisoft Singapore have been "impacted," The Verge notes. That Singapore studio shipped Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, which Ubisoft said in July had sold 3.5 million copies in its first two weeks.
The RedLynx closure is still a proposal, subject to Finland's change-negotiation process. Ubisoft bought the studio in 2011 after Trials HD took off on Xbox Live Arcade; its last major standalone game was Trials Rising in 2019, and the team has mostly done support work since, including a Switch 2 port of Star Wars Outlaws. Singapore "remains an important part of Ubisoft's global production organisation," the company said, even as it trims headcount there.
This fits the same restructuring that already canceled six games and folded big franchises under "creative houses" like Vantage. Ubisoft said it values both teams and will support people through the process. Series creator Antti Ilvessuo, who left years ago, told Eurogamer he was proud of what RedLynx built and pointed back to a riddle buried in Trials Evolution that still has most of its future ahead of it.
