YouTube Music is rolling out labels for AI-generated songs starting today. When a track was "created primarily using generative AI," like a song whose composition and vocals both came from a model, a small "AI" tag shows up on the player page under the track name. Tap it and a "How this was made" panel explains more.

YouTube says it's finding these tracks through disclosures from music partners plus its own detection tools, using the same labeling rules it already applies to AI video. The labels are also coming to the main YouTube app, where plenty of music gets played, though the company didn't say when.

It's a lighter touch than what Deezer announced this morning. Deezer plans a switch that hides AI music from search entirely; YouTube just tells you what you're hearing and leaves the skip button to you.
