Analogue is releasing new versions of its Super Nt and Mega Sg retro consoles, The Verge reports. The Super Nt Plus and Mega Sg Plus get a reworked industrial design and still use an FPGA chip to recreate the original 16-bit hardware, so they play real SNES and Genesis cartridges without emulation.
The upgrades are practical. Both add a USB-C port for power, a USB-A port for peripherals, and built-in Bluetooth plus a low-latency 2.4GHz connection, so wireless gamepads no longer need a dongle in the controller port. Wired controllers still work, the connected pad can power the console on, and cartridges can now be hot swapped after quitting a game from the menu. Output tops out at 1080p, with no 4K mode like the Analogue 3D offers for N64 games.
Pre-orders open October 19 at 11AM ET for $219.99 each, and shipping is expected to start in December.
