Apple doesn't usually drop this much in a point release. The first iOS 27.3 developer beta landed today — build 24C5037i, per Mac Observer — and it's really three updates wearing one version number: the China launch of Apple Intelligence, a health-and-fitness push, and the iPhone Duo's best software tricks trickling down to every other iPhone.

Start with the headliner. The redesigned Health app is back — it appeared during the iOS 27.2 beta cycle and was yanked before release. Now it's back in 27.3 beta 1 and expected to ship to everyone next month, with a new Insights tab, a Longevity tab built around a "Health Age" metric, and at-home movement evaluations that use your iPhone camera and Apple Watch to test flexibility, strength, and balance entirely on-device.

Then there's the Duo dividend. StandBy's new faces — Calendar, Weather, revamped clocks, Shared Albums on the Photos face — were Duo exclusives. As of this beta, they're coming to the iPhone 11 and everything newer, according to MacRumors. Safari gets the biggest rethink in years: vertical tabs and an Adaptive Dark Mode that re-renders bright websites for dark-mode users, across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The China story is the one with a deadline. Apple Intelligence testing starts tomorrow, November 4, on the developer beta, with Writing Tools, Genmoji, Clean Up, Visual Intelligence, and notification features — but not the new Siri AI — rolling out in December on iOS 27.3.

Also in the beta: the Siri AI Developer Preview that opens the assistant to every app, Audio Intelligence features (Siri Recap, Live Rewind) on Apple Watch, and new Gym Strength workouts for Fitness+. Registered developers can install it now through Settings → General → Software Update. Everyone else waits for December — and given how much is in this one, the public beta can't come soon enough.
